Team Pound Overcomes Early Deficit for 3-1 Win

With all of the chips against Team Pound (Team Captain Trent Huebner out with an injury, team speedster Todd Miller moving to St. Louis, and defenseman Morgan out for the season with a shoulder separation), it looked even worse when Team Pound fell behind early in the 1st period to the Beer Heads. The Beer Head's Carey Durban rifled a pinball shot home past Team Pound's goaltender Pete Wetzel and all seemed lost. But then, the wounded Team Pound arose. Tony Dreibus of Team Pound took a rebound off of the backwall from Lou Witkam and punched a goal in past Beer Head's goaltender Mike Parks. The scoring for Team Pound didn't stop there. Brett Sobotka put in the game winner and a reassurance goal (assist from Tony Dreibus) to put Team Pound up 3-1. The Beer Heads would charge back though and pressured Team Pound late into the 2nd period. Team Pound goaltender Pete Wetzel took a delay of game penalty with little over 2 minutes left in the game because of all of the pressure. Unfortunately, The Beer Heads did not convert on their power play and Team Pound came out with the victory. With this win, Team Pound takes sole possession of 1st place.
