Championship Rematch Features Scoring Fireworks
Rewind one season and you'll get the same two teams battling it out for the championship. And you'll get the same result. Billy and the Boingers edged out the Angry Beavers 4-2 in a see-saw offensive showcase. After a tripping penalty by Angry Beaver goaltender Ross Frank, the Boingers' Steve Renner was able to take the lead late into the first half. That would all there was to say about defensive play as a combined 5 goals were scored in the 2nd half. Starting off, Renner took a pass from Steve Anderson to make a 2-0 lead. Not cashing in their chips yet, the Angry Beavers got a short handed goal from Fremont newcomer Jon Ludvigsen (Steve Galeski assist). Brian Karre of the Boingers took back the two goal lead by dumping it into the empty net. Not to be outdone, the other Fremont Rookie John Wolfsy scores into the top of the net with the help of Eric Paisley. With the Rally coming full stride, Brian Karre was able to silence the crowd with his final empty net goal.
