Tough Defense and One Great Shot Decides Game
With Team Pound's team captain listed as "Questionable" on the starting roster, the local media was hot to pick up this story for their front page by-lines. While many speculated that this could be a something like a Terrell Owens incident and be suspended "Indefinitely" and others thought team captain Trent Huebner may have made a "throat slashing" gesture to the referee last game and was being "strongly reprimanded" by the "OmahaBroomball" conference, it was actually because he was out hunting in South Dakota with his boss this weekend and wasn't sure if he'd be back in time.
This lead-in proved crucial as it was Trent Huebner's shot from the high right slot in to the shelf of the opposite post which proved to be the game winner for Team Pound over the Angry Beavers. With shots pouring in from everywhere, Angry Beavers goaltender Kevin Wills was able to make many sprawling saves in order to keep his team in it. But with time winding down and the goal pulled, the stringent defense of Team Pound was able to clear the ball down to the other end of the ice and maintain pressure on their net in order to run out the clock. Both teams remain in their respective standings positions of Team Pound 1st place and Angry Beavers 4th place.
