First Game Produces Fireworks
No rust was evident in the first game of the season where the Beerheads defeated the Angry Beavers 3-2. With a short-handed roster, the Beerheads enlisted Team Pound's Trent Huebner who proved to be the difference-maker as he took an early breakaway and roofed it into the back of the net behind Beaver goaltender Kevin Wills. The scoring went back and forth until late in the game where Beerhead's Chris Clem was able to fire one home from a feed-pass by Carey Durban. The Beavers pulled their netminder with minutes left in the second half to tie it up, but the Beerheads were able to hold off the late push.
